Baby's health is them prime concern of each and every parent. There are
many precautions which parents need to take to maintain their baby’s health
and safety. Some of them are as below:
Doctor's Treatment and Check Ups:
During your baby's first three years of life take them to doctors periodically
for checkups. Check whether they are developing and growing at a normal
rate or not. Take your infant for check up every 2 to 3 months and make
sure that your baby is developing appropriately or not. Also take tips
from doctor for child care like what to give baby to eat, how much sleep
should infant take, etc.
The basic pattern as suggested by experts is that a child should be checked
up when they are 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months old, and then once
a while in a year until they are school age.
Doctors generally check up general appearance, skin, head, eyes, ears,
nose, mouth, neck, heart, lungs, abdomen, muscles, genitals, arms, pulses,
hips and other body parts.
Routine and regular check ups are highly encouraged.
Infant's Diet:
To maintain good health of a baby their daily diet is the most important
factor.
Take care their diet does not have excess of any single nutrient. Baby
food should be free from nitrates because nitrates can cause a poisoning
called Methemoglobinemia in infants, which is very hazardous. It prevents
infant's blood from absorbing oxygen. Some of the vegetables have naturally
occurring nitrates in them like carrots, green beams, spinach, beets etc.
Also do not use salt, sugar and spice or any other such items in infant's
food. Excess of these items in food can cause childhood obesity
Infant's clothing and bed: should be kept clean. Babies fall sick because
of lack in cleanliness in their surrounding. Keep extra pairs of clothing
for a baby ready always. Change the clothes of baby at least twice a day
to avoid any kind of illness.
Take care that you do not cover babies with heavy blankets. Many a time
heavy blankets result in a SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Use light
weight and clean blankets to cover your baby.
Also take care that flies and mosquitoes does not tease your infant.
Always cover the infant with the mosquito nets when they are sleeping.
These are some of the measures and precautions should be taken to maintain
your baby's health and safety.
